Traffic flow was affected for an hour on the Chittoor-Bengaluru highway and the Gudiyattam road as a hundred villagers of T.Vaddur hamlet of Palamaner mandal staged a blockade protesting against the alleged apathy of the government in dealing with water shortage in the village.Leaving vessels on the roads, the villagers, mostly women, claimed they had appealed to mandal officials to no avail. Last week, they were forced to traverse longer distances to fetch water under the hot sun. The protesters called off their agitation after the police promised to take the matter to the notice of higher-ups.
