A delegation of the Regulatory Delivery Department (RDD) of the United Kingdom (U.K.) will be on a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh from February 20 to help the State retaining its leadership on the Ease-of-Doing Business (EoDB) front by identifying the “pain points” faced by the entrepreneurs and sorting out other issues.
The RDD is a part of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills of the U.K. that focuses on regulation and enforcement.
Top executives of the RDD will discuss the implementation of the Central inspection system, computerised risk assessment and risk profiling based on compliance history in A.P., and lay down a framework that prepares the State for Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion’s (DIPP) Business Reform Action Plan for 2019.
Economic growth
Commissioner of Industries Siddharth Jain told The Hindu that A.P. had been in the forefront of economic growth in India, and its commitment to create the best business ecosystem was evident from the No. 1 rank achieved for the last two years in the EoDB evaluation done by the DIPP and the World Bank.
A.P. was also rated No. 1 by Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI), Singapore.
A benchmarking exercise has already been done to further ease the processes of getting electricity connections and construction permits and registering properties, with customer satisfaction forming the cornerstone of the whole programme.
A.P. was No. 1 on the EoDB front last year. It was closely followed by Telangana and seven others, which together fell in the “top achievers” category.
MSME sector
Besides the EoDB, the Department of Industries of A.P. is exploring ways to make doing business simpler for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with due emphasis on credit flow.
