The State government on Thursday permitted the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) to start seven new B.Sc paramedical courses with an intake of 10 students per course in government medical colleges.
As per G.O. MS No. 79 issued by Special Chief Secretary (health, medical and family welfare) Poonam Malakondaiah, the new courses, with the colleges offering them in brackets, are B.Sc neuro-physiology technology (Andhra and Guntur medical colleges); B.Sc anaesthesiology and operation technologies (Rangaraya, Siddhartha, Kurnool and Sri Venkateswara medical colleges); B.Sc cardiac care and cardiovascular technologies (Andhra and Kurnool medical colleges); B.Sc imaging technology (Rangaraya and Guntur medical colleges); B.Sc perfusion technology (Andhra and Guntur medical colleges); B.Sc renal dialysis technology (Andhra Medical College); and B.Sc optometry (Andhra, Siddhartha and Kurnool medical colleges).
The G.O. stated that the Executive Council of UHS had resolved in July 2017 to launch the new courses from 2017-2018 in the government colleges. Accordingly, an expert committee worked out the modalities for the courses that would be of three years duration.
