Two more red sanders smugglers booked

The Chittoor Task Force Police on Saturday booked two red sanders smugglers under the Preventive Detention Act (PD Act), and shifted them to the Kadapa Central Jail. Additional SP (Red Sanders Operations), V. Ratna, said the smugglers were identified as Tummindapalam Gouse (33) from Chittoor and D. Subramanyam alias Takku Subramanyam (42) from Vepanapalle of Puthalapattu mandal.

Gouse is termed as the kingpin and most wanted in the clandestine transport of red sanders since 2011, carrying 40 cases against him. His annual income was said to be Rs 1 crore, with the operations spread over Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Takku Subramanyam had started as a pilot to smugglers, before he turned into one. He is carrying six cases against him, and his annual income was said to be over Rs 1.5 crore. Chittoor Police have far booked 45 red sanders smuggling accused under the PD Act.
