Truckers strike: administration gears up

The district administration has come up with contingency measures truck operators and petroleum dealers effectively from Wednesday midnight, said Collector M.M. Nayak.

Arrangements

At a meeting with representatives of HPCL, IOL and BPCL, Civil Supplies and transport officials on Wednesday, Mr. Nayak appealed to people not to panic, as all essentials, including milk and medicines, were exempted from strike and also fuel refineries had made arrangements to operate their own tankers with police escort.

Uninterrupted supply

Representatives of the refineries assured him of uninterrupted supply of petrol and diesel through corporation-owned and corporation-operated depots.

RTA Deputy Commissioner Krishna Veni, District Civil Supplies Officer Nirmala Bai, and others were present.
