TRS defers release of candidate list

April 08, 2014 12:21 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:27 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Notwithstanding the release of list of candidates by the Congress, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has put off its list by a day as Monday is considered inauspicious due to ‘ashtami.’

The TRS leadership had set its eyes on the list of Congress so that leaders of the latter, who did not get tickets could be accommodated in the TRS list. However, only two Congress leaders – R. Gurunath Reddy of Kodangal in Mahabubnagar and Vanama Venkateswara Rao of Kothagudem in Khammam – could be contacted by the TRS.

The latter was reportedly sounded out for Khammam Parliamentary constituency, but he is yet to take a decision, as he is considering the proposal with his followers. Another former MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy, who was also denied ticket by the Congress, is already said to have consented to contest from Ibrahimpatan.

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was in touch with party candidates, who were already finalised, to fine-tune the ensuing list.

The party has yet to release names for 46 Assembly and nine Parliamentary constituencies. Half of the 46 Assembly seats are in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.

Name of a woman pilot had reportedly been figured in the discussions of Mr. Rao for Adilabad (ST) Parliamentary constituency.
