Ball of fire as crackers burst at a thatched house in Rajahmundry.

Three persons were killed and another three were seriously injured in a fire-cracker blast at Lalacheruvu in Rajahmundry in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Surya Kantham, Dhanalakshmi and Vinay Reddy.

The condition of one of the injured, Durga Reddy, is stated to be critical.

According to the police, Mutyala Reddy, an auto-rickshaw driver, and his family members were making crackers for the ensuing Deepavali festival in their thatched house when the mishap took place.

Stocks of crackers are said to have caught fire due to an electrical short-circuit resulting in the explosion.

Mutyala Reddy's mother Surya Kantham and wife Dhanalakshmi died on the spot and his son Vinay Reddy succumbed at the GGH.

Urban SP Shemushi Bajpayee enquired about the incident.

Further investigation is on.
