Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said that his Government was determined to utilise 1,280 tmcft of water from Krishna and Godavari rivers allocated to the State.

“The long term solution for agricultural crisis is only to bring water for the projects. As per the then Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s announcement, a total of 1,280 TMC of water from Krishna and Godavari rivers has been allocated to Telangana. During the coming three years, we are going to spend Rs.25,000 crore each year on ongoing and new irrigation projects,” he told the Assembly on Wednesday.

“This is the first Assembly session without a discussion on power cuts. We shall provide nine-hour agricultural supply during the day from next kharif, and by the end of 2018, there will be three-phase power 24X7 for agriculture.

“We have lost crops, but rainfall is in excess in some mandals. As per Central rules, the rainfall should be minus 19 per cent, a criterion we have not matched,” Mr.Rao said
