Telugu Desam (TDP) candidate for Station Ghanpur Assembly by-election described the speech by TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao as a ‘desperate' one.
Reacting shortly after the TRS public meeting held at Station Ghanpur, the TDP leader said once again the TRS leader was making false promises of bringing separate Telangana after the by-election. “This is the fifth by-election forced on people by the TRS party. Every time, he says winning this election will pressurise the Central government, which will deliver the separate Telangana. People should realise the true colours of KCR ,” Srihari said.
The TDP leader reminded the people that those elected on the TRS ticket in the past deserted the party and supported the Congress for money. “The by-election was forced on people by the TRS only to increase its strength in Assembly and support the Congress in Rajya Sabha elections. This election has nothing to do with the separate Telangana movement,” he pointed out.
KCR would eventually merge his party into the Congress without even delivering his much promised separate Statehood to the region.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to people to reject both the TDP and Congress parties in the by-election.
Political mileage
He said both the parties promised to work for the separate Telangana statehood cause but went back subsequent to the elections. Both the TDP and Congress leaders used the separate Telangana plank only for their political mileage and thus humiliated the aspirations of people.
“I appeal to you all to give thumping majority to the TRS and ensure that both the TDP and Congress candidate lose their deposits,” he told addressing a well attended public meeting here at mandal headquarters.
Making light of the promises made by TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday at the same town, the TRS leader sought to know whether the people asked for free rice and unemployment allowance. He said the parties headed and managed by Andhra regional leaders were thus treating the people as beggars. Attacking the TDP candidate Kadiam Srihari, the TRS leader said the TDP leader amassed wealth but did nothing to the people.
