Former APCC president D. Srinivas has called for re-dedication of people in Telangana State for political stability and its reconstruction in coming days.

“We all fought for the realisation of a 60-year-old dream and achieved it, thanks to Sonia Gandhi. She delivered Telangana going against all odds and even faced insults and accusations. She was unmoved despite pressure from different quarters. All the credit for passage of the Bill goes to her,” he said on Sunday. Addressing a well-attended thanksgiving public meeting here, Mr. Srinivas said the people were indebted to her for generations. She did not mind reverses to the Congress in Seemandhra, but stood by her word.

He left the merger of TRS into Congress to the wisdom of its chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He reminded that it was KCR who had repeatedly said that he would merge in Congress if ‘T’ was created. Earlier, Mr. Srinivas was accorded rousing welcome at Chandrayanpalli, 30 km from here, by the party cadres. At the meeting, Congress MPs questioned the moral right of the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy in entering Telangana, when they had opposed its creation. Union Minister Balram Naik alleged that it was the TDP which was responsible for the deaths of 1,200 Telangana youth as the BJP-led-NDA government had dashed the hopes of people here after granting three States.
