As many as 28 children of poor families can now study in English medium schools thanks to the initiative of the Srikakulam Kalinga Vysya Sangham along with local non-governmental organisations such as the Junior Chamber international.

The Association members will take care of each student and ensure decent study till completion of tenth class. The association selected the students who were promoted to 8th class in this academic year for the adoption.

Srikakulam Cloth Merchants Association’s president Konark Srinivas provided books worth Rs. 30,000. Members of the association such as Andhavarapu Varaha Lakshmi Narasimham, Boina Govinda Rajulu, Andhavarapu Suribabu, P.V. Ramana, Baratam Lakshmana Rao and others provided contributions for their studies in reputed English medium schools.

Some of them agreed to pay school fees apart from providing uniforms.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Suribabu urged the members to take up charitable activities like Konark Srinivas so that the students would become good citizens with proper education. “Individuals cannot help everyone. But their support to the association will certainly bring change in the lives of many poor students,” he said. The Association decided to provide cycles also to the adopted kids in September.
