Sudden rain brings relief, misery too

May 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:46 am IST - GUNTUR:

A spell of heavy rain lashed parts of the district on Friday afternoon, bringing the much-needed relief from the scorching heat significantly.

But, the sudden downpour left the thoroughfares of Tenali inundated, giving a tough time to the commuters, who were seen wading in knee-deep water. Further, the rain heaped misery on the farmers in delta and Palnadu areas. In Tenali region, heaps of turmeric stored at the market yard in Duggirala got soaked and farmers were seen running around to cover the produce that awere left in the open at the market yard.

The rainfall though lasted for an hour or so exposed the chinks in the storm water drainage system in Tenali.
