Tirupati is all set for a major makeover as a foundation stone was laid for projects worth ₹30.80 crore under the Smart City and AMRUT schemes, here on Friday.
Tirupati MLA M. Suguna, Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav and Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) Commissioner V. Vijay Rama Raju laid the stone.
Under the Smart City mission, the focus is to develop, beautify and adds facilities at municipal parks and open spaces including Padmavathi Park at ₹78.46 lakh and Nehru Maidanam at ₹311 lakh. ISKCON Maidanam will be developed at ₹245 lakh and Prakasam Park at ₹791 lakh.
According to the municipal authorities, recreational parks will have more greenery along with amenities like walking and cycling tracks, play areas and open gyms.
Besides, land-based and rooftop solar photovoltaic power projects will be developed at ₹368 lakh.
Under the AMRUT scheme, storm water drainage systems will be developed at identified places with an outlay of ₹1,219 lakh.
Later, the officials inaugurated a high mast light in M.R. Palle.
