January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A senior State government official on Friday maintained that the State’s finances were not in doldrums but the administration was walking a tightrope.

The official, who did not want to be quoted, said the State was not in a fiscal abyss and there was no crisis.

However, that did not mean everything was hunky dory. The State’s revenue mobilisation and management has improved, he added.

Regarding the Centre meeting the revenue deficit of Rs, 15, 961 crore, the official said the Government of India was expected to make a special grant after making an assessment.

Under the 13{+t}{+h}Finance Commission, an amount of Rs.4,200 crore was due for Andhra Pradesh and a sum of Rs.1560 crore was already released.

The remaining amount was likely to be released next week.

The official said that a special award for Andhra Pradesh was expected to be provided in the coming budget session as per the recommendations of 14{+t}{+h}Finance Commission.
