State Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmashri and other leaders at the Mahila Congress State executive meet in Tirupati on Monday.

Of the several issues to be taken up by the Congress in the campaign ahead of the ensuing polls, the failure of the TDP government in the State and the NDA government at the Centre in addressing women’s issues will find a prominent place in its manifesto.

The women’s wing has already started the process of listing the issues to ‘expose the government’s failure to meet the aspirations of women,’ and a report will be submitted at its national executive meet slated to be held in New Delhi on November 1 and 2.

Addressing the State executive meet here on Monday, R. Sudha, in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs, announced that a relentless fight would be launched with the twin objectives of realising the unfulfilled promises made by the Centre-State duo and help the Congress regain its lost glory in A.P.

Ms. Sudha, who hails from Tamil Nadu, flayed the Modi regime for letting down not only the women farmers and women’s groups, but also girl children by denying them the basic right to education and exposing them to attacks.

‘Jagan power-hungry’

She lashed out at Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for shirking his responsibility as a legislator and wandering on the streets with an eye on the Chief Minister’s seat.

State president Sunkara Padmashri said the Telugu Desam government’s failure to waive DWCRA members’ loans would top its agenda, adding that the people were being misled by ‘cooked up statistics.’
