Former Karnataka Minister B. Sriramulu, who recently won as an independent from Bellary Assembly constituency, called on his erstwhile Cabinet colleague Gali Janardhan Reddy at the Chanchalguda Central Jail here on Thursday.

Emerging from the jail after an hour-long meeting with Mr. Reddy, the MLA said he had sought the blessings of the former for the new political party that he is proposed to launch in the coming few days.

He said he proposed to tour the length and breadth of Karnataka to bring the backward classes together on one single platform.

He said Mr. Janardhan Reddy had been jailed although he had not committed any irregularities. He was accompanied by two MPs from Karnataka S. Pakirappa of Raichur and J. Shanta of Bellary, former MP K. Virupakshappa and several other leaders.
