Smart ward programme launched in Guntur

Want to adopt your neighbourhood colony? Or be a partner in the transformation of an area in your town?

Here is an opportunity to give back to your town and be part of the development. The Guntur Municipal Corporation has initiated ``Smart Ward Smart Village,’’ project in all the 62 wards in Guntur and in the extension villages. The project is part of a nation wide programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform both urban and rural living spaces.

Municipal Commissioner K. Kanna Babu said that those interested could choose between a general partner and a sector partner in partnering with the Guntur Municipal Corporation in planning effective interventions in addressing livelihood issues, health & nutrition, sanitation, education, financial inclusion, plantation etc.

Transformation

“We are inviting corporate firms, NRIs, educational institutions, philanthropists and former government officers to adopt wards and be partners in their transformation into smart wards,’’ Mr. Kanna Babu said.

The Commissioner himself has adopted 34 rd ward in the town. Several IAS, IPS officers have adopted their native villages as part of the project.

Some of the wards which have been adopted include, 15, 16, 29, 34, 41 and 44th wards.
