Six killed as van overturns

Three tribals, including a woman, died on the spot as the van in which they were travelling overturned at I. Polavaram near Surampalem on Thursday evening. Three more people, who suffered serious injuries, died while undergoing treatment at hospital.

According to ITDA Project Officer Chakradhara Babu, the van, with marriage party of more than 30 people on board, left Surampalem on Thursday morning for Pandirimamidi close to Rampachodavaram. On the return journey near I. Polavaram, the driver lost control over the vehicle, which was moving at a high speed, and it overturned.

All the passengers suffered injuries and the condition of three of them is said to be critical. All the injured were rushed to Rampachodavaram area hospital.
