Two members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) fainted while undertaking an arduous trek in the scorching sun to the spot of the alleged encounter at the foot of Seshachalam hills here on Thursday.
G. Pala Raju, Superintendent of Police (Technical) and N. Yugandhar Babu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, CID, fainted while returning from the spot, on the second day of their investigation.
Accompanied by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Tirupati West division) B. Srinivasulu and Chandragiri Circle Inspector Siva Prasad, the team members reached the Srinivasa Mangapuram-Srivari Mettu road, and began their trek into the forest.
Rocky terrain
The two locations, where 11 and nine members respectively were found dead after the encounter, are a kilometre apart, but situated eight km from the main road.
