Members of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation hailing from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions have served notice on the management, threatening to go on strike from April 9 if the promises made during the strike by Seemandhra employees in August and September last were not honoured.
However, it is said the corporation came up with a proposal to recover the entire advance by adjusting it against salary payable for March, following which the strike notice was served by a team of leaders from the APSRTC Employees Union, including P. Damodar Rao, Deputy General Secretary.
It was initially agreed between the employees and the management that the August’13 salary would be paid in March’14 and September’13 salary would be paid in May’14. It was also agreed that on the issue of the Rs. 25,000 for permanent employees and Rs. 15,000 to those on contract, paid as advance against salary during October’13 would be recovered in 12 equal monthly instalments.
When contacted, K. Padmakar, General Secretary said that deducting the entire advance at one go would cause hardship to the employees.
