Calling for broader support for good governance, Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Friday asserted that the biggest achievement of the Narendra Modi government was the absence of a single scam in the past three years of its rule.

Drawing a comparison, Mr. Gowda said the decade of Congress rule prior to Mr. Modi was marred by a series of scandals and scams that tarnished the image of the country.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the MODI Fest (Making Of Development India) at the Venkatagiri Rajah’s College grounds here, Mr. Gowda said it was high time that people from all sections of society come forward and extended greater support to the BJP government’s programmes.

‘Youth are with us’

Educated youth of India who were spread all over the world were feeling proud of being Indians, thanks to the image boost received under the committed and dynamic leadership of Mr. Modi.

Pointing to the large number of young people present at the venue, Mr. Gowda said that it was an indication of the groundswell of support to the people-centric developmental and welfare programmes being implemented by the Centre.

Mr. Gowda took objection to the Congress criticism over demonetisation, GDP growth rate, Goods and Services Tax, saying that there might be a little setback in some pockets but the overall performance of the economy would steadily improve in the coming days.

BJP spokesperson K. Anjaneya Reddy, district president P. Surender Reddy, and State secretary K. Vijayalakshmi were among those present.
