A staff nurse working in the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) ward of the Ruia Hospital has been diagnosed with flu-like symptoms much to the concern of the hospital staff.
The nurse was attached to the swine flu ward of the hospital wherein two women from Palamaner tested positive are undergoing treatment at present.
The nurse developed symptoms of cold and cough two days ago, prompting the officials to keep her on medication.
Speaking to The Hindu , a senior medical official said that samples collected from the patient (staff nurse) had been sent for testing. “The symptoms are similar to that of a common cold, but we do not want to take any risk. We are awaiting the reports,” he added. Besides this, reports of prevalence of swine flu also prompted a few members of a foreign delegation, who were slated to take part in an event in the city, to stay away from the programme.
Meanwhile, students of Seven Hills College of Pharmacy (SCHP) organised an awareness rally on swine flu, covering all the important junctions of the city. They educated people on the measures to be taken to prevent infection of swine flu.
