RTC fleet categorisation to check operational loss

May 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - TIRUPATI:

In an attempt to ensure a hassle-free transport to the citizens and catering to the needs of pilgrims visiting the temple city as well, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is planning to categorise its fleet into two main entities – transport services for devotees and district services, according to its new Regional Manager (Tirupati) V. Nagasivudu.

Dealing with these entities independently will impart more efficiency in operations, he has said.

Mr. Nagasivudu, who assumed charge here on Friday, recalled few success stories in other depots in the State and vowed to imbibe the same for developing the depots and other operations, especially by keeping a check on the operational wastage expenditure. “Our first aim is to keep a track of expenditure up to the route level and ensure reduction in losses,” he added.

Besides this, the management was mulling installation of CCTV cameras to strengthen the security and surveillance in this busiest pilgrimage destination, he said, adding that the move would certainly put a check on crimes such as chain snatching and luggage lifting.

In view of the ongoing marriage season, Mr. Nagasividu appealed to the denizens to utilise the services of RTC ‘marriage special’ buses which could be hired by contacting the nearest depot managers from May 29 to May 31 and June 3 to June 15.
