An APSRTC bus of the Chittoor II Depot, which was parked at the Central Bus Station here, caught fire in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to sources, the driver had parked the vehicle at its designated spot at the station and was sleeping inside when the bus went up in flames.

The driver received minor injuries on his leg.

Officials suspect a battery short circuit might have caused the fire. For the record, a similar incident occurred recently when a parked bus caught fire at a bus station near Alipiri, causing a loss of Rs. 6 lakh.
