Row over YSR, NTR statues in Nagari

January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - CHITTOOR:

Statues of N.T. Rama Rao and Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at the Tower Clock junction at Nagari municipal town in the district have become a bone of contention not only for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the YSR Congress, but the otherwise regular lifestyle of the denizens.

These statues had come up in the town overnight during the election campaign last year. YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy unveiled his father's statue on the busy four roads junction on January 20. TDP cadres installed the NTR statue on the Tirupati road the same day night. Both incidents went off successfully amidst fan frenzy, and no side had the permission of either municipal authorities or the police then.
