‘Rooftop solar power need of the hour for industries’

Entrepreneurs discuss business models for deployment

Rooftop solar powering system offered a carbon footprint-free solution to contemporary power needs, said president (Operations) of Sri City Satish Kamat.

Speaking at a workshop on ‘Rooftop Solar Power Solutions’ organised by Sri City in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Wednesday, he called it a feasible solution for industrial consumers, who could be assured of reliable and quality power. Mr. Kamat urged delegates from industries to interact with experts mentioning their requirements.

Animesh Sharma of Hero Futures Energies and Bhujanga Rao Koka of Mondelez India Foods highlighted advantages of using solar power to meet power needs of firms.

Untapped opportunities

CII Director (Energy and Infrastructure) Saikat Roy Chowdhury chaired a panel session wherein LERRI Solar Technology vice-president Rahul Kapil, Waaree Energies’ Atul Kamathi and Assistant General Manager of the State Bank of India Gopal Mohan discussed rooftop solar value chain and business models for large-scale deployment.

Delegates discussed policy and regulatory frameworks, untapped opportunities, cost and maintenance-related challenges and financing options.
