The YSRCP has urged Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to restrain the “interim government” in the State from clearing the bills to the tune of ₹32,000 crore out of turn and without budgetary support.
Party’s Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, in a letter submitted to the Governor in Hyderabad on Saturday, said the TDP government was not following the “first come, first served” norm while clearing the bills. There was a chance of the interim government clearing “unbudgeted and unimportant bills,” the letter said, and urged the Governor to intervene and instruct the Chief Secretary to take steps to stop the “misuse of authority by the interim government.”
Dig at Naidu
The YSRCP, in the same letter, brought to the notice of the Governor the alleged inappropriate comments made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu against the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy recalled the circumstances under which the ECI had transferred the former Chief Secretary, Anil Chandra Punitha, and appointed senior IAS officer L.V. Subrahmanyam in his place.
The YSRCP also brought to the notice of the Governor a few “objectionable references” the Chief Minister allegedly made against Mr. Subrahmanayam. The objective was to defame him and also intimidate the other civil servants, the letter alleged said. “The comments made by Mr. Naidu are derogatory, detrimental to the ECI, besides hurting the morale of the civil servants at all levels working as as a part of the election establishment. The comments tantamount to defiance of the ECI’s authority,” the letter said.
