Purview of GUDA expanded

Number of villages under the development authority increased to 354

The purview of the Godavari Urban Development Authority (GUDA) has been expanded from 2,183 square kilometres to 2,740.3 square kilometres with the State government issuing orders merging villages from Tuni and Ramachandrapuram municipalities into it. The number of villages the come under the urban body has been increased from 280 to 354.

Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the GUDA Ganni Krishna and R. Amarendra Kumar respectively, at a press conference here on Friday, said that eight villages in Thondangi mandal, nine villages from Tuni mandal, 20 villages from Ramachandrapuram mandal, 11 villages each from Ravulapalem and Tallarevu mandals, two from Sankhavaram mandal and 13 villages from Karapa mandal were now merged with the urban body. Director of the GUDA Gatti Satyanarayana, chief planning officer Ram Kumar and others were present.
