The Ramachandrapuram police have claimed to have solved the mystery behind the alleged murder of Nandula Jayadeepika (20), daughter of Telugu Desam Party town president Nandula Suryanarayana alias Nandula Raju.

According to police sources, Jayadeepika’s father, Raju, is allegedly behind the murder and he reportedly took the help of a history-sheeter to kill her.

However, it was not established whether it was an honour killing or property dispute among the family members.

Jayadeepika, who was running a generic medical shop, was killed by miscreants, who crushed her head with a wooden table, when she was sleeping on Monday night at their house in Thotavari Street.

Raju, who is running a bar in the town, returned around 1.30 a.m. on that night and found his daughter dead. He immediately alerted the police.

After post-mortem on Tuesday, Raju filed a complaint stating that he suspected his son, Jayaprakash Naidu, to be behind the murder as Jayadeepika was owning property worth ₹2 crore, including the house where she was killed, agriculture fields and house sites.

During the investigation by the police, CCTV footage of Raju’s bar revealed that Jayaprakash Naidu was in the bar during the time of the murder.

Then, the police suspected the hand of Raju and came to a conclusion that he gave a false complaint to divert attention.

The police sources said Raju with the help of a history-sheeter, who is accused in a few murder cases, had planned her murder. On Thursday, police took Raju, the history-sheeter and two others into custody and started interrogation.

However, it is yet to be established if Raju hatched the plan to kill his daughter because he did not want to lose property in her name or he was not ready to accept the alleged relationship of Jayadeepika with her suspected boyfriend belonging to another caste.
