The Anantapur police have cracked the double homicide which took place in Hindupur on October 15. They have arrested five persons in connection with the case, recovered ₹70,000 and ceased five mobile phones.
The accused have been identified as M. Suseelamma, M. Anjaneyulu, M. Pawan Kumar, Narayana Swami and Tadi Nagabhushanam.
Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Superintendent of Police B. Satya Yesubabu said that a financial dispute had led to the murder.
The deceased couple, Nagabhushana Rao and Geetabai, had purchased a house in Hindupur and moved into it about three years ago. The couple was into money-lending. The prime accused, Suseelamma, had rented a portion of the house.
Suseelamma had borrowed ₹4 lakh from the couple. “When they asked her to repay the money, Suseelamma felt humiliated and planned the murder with her live-in partner Tadi Nagabhushanam,” he said.
The accused invited the couple to Bevinahalli village, saying that they would borrow money from a person there to repay the loan taken from the couple. On the way, Suseelamma, Nagabhushanam and Suseelamma’s brothers strangulated the couple using strings. Later, their bodies were moved to the railway tracks to make it look like an accident.
The SP praised the police officers for cracking the case promptly.
