Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Chinta Mohan has dropped a hint that a ‘new face’ is set to surface in the State’s political landscape.

“People are thoroughly disappointed at Chandrababu Naidu government’s utter failure and are equally disenchanted with opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s inability to rise to the occasion. Hence, there is a desire among the public to see a new face,” he said at a media conference here on Tuesday.

While refusing to make public any name, he, however, made it clear that the new face would be synonymous to honesty, integrity and performance. Flaying the Telugu Desam Party regime for focusing only on Amaravati and Polavaram, Dr. Mohan sneered at the state’s continued ‘lopsided’ priorities. “The Chief Minister focuses only on the projects where there is huge flow of funds and has deliberately left the other districts high and dry,” he fumed.

Seven projects

On the seven projects sanctioned for Tirupati by the UPA-II regime, which he alleged had been relegated to the cold storage by the TDP government, he faulted the tendency to hamper development in the name of political affiliation.

“Dugarajupatnam port, NTPC BHEL Power Projects Limited (NBPPL) plant at Mannavaram, 300-bed hospital for pregnant women, 7008 houses for poor women, ₹120-crore cancer hospital, international cricket stadium and the international airport are considered game changers for Tirupati, but Mr. Naidu has blocked them all,” he alleged.

‘Intintiki Congress’

The party would take up ‘Intintiki Congress’ programme to highlight the above, he added.

Pradesh Congress Committee secretaries K. Prameelamma and Nainar Srinivasulu, Mahila Congress leader R. Sreedevi and SC Cell convener P. Prabhakar were present.
