Updated - June 13, 2015 05:50 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The AP State Minorities Commission has ordered Rs.5 lakh ex gratia to be paid to the kin of a custodial death victim in Nizamabad district, besides taking serious view of the lapses on the part of the policemen and doctors concerned.

The commission also recommended for a residential house in any of the government housing projects in Nizamabad for the family of the deceased Shaik Hyder, besides a suitable job to any of his siblings, and old-age pension for his father.

As per the version of the Nizamabad district police, Mr. Hyder, a hamali by profession, tried to escape by jumping over a wall, and injured himself by falling on a broken ceramic piece. He was first taken to the district hospital, and later, died of excessive bleeding on the way to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
