Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman prof. M. Kodandaram has said that passing of the Telangana Bill in the State Assembly is the responsibility of the Congress if voting on the Bill is conducted.
Speaking at a discussion organised at Yadagirigutta here on Monday, the TJAC Chairman flayed the Seemandhra leaders for tearing off the draft of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill when it was introduced in the Assembly for discussion. “Making fun with the Telangana Bill by tearing it off and burning the pages is equal to ridiculing the Constitution because it was sent to the Assembly by the President for discussion,” he said.
Reiterating that there was no need to pass the Bill by the Assembly with majority as per the provisions enshrined in the Constitution, prof. Kodandaram said that it was up to the ruling Congress to decide whether they would go for a voting in the Assembly.
“If they (Congress) really want a voting on the Bill, the responsibility of passage of the Bill also rests with them as it was drafted by the Union government,” he said.
TRS Polit bureau member Gongidi Sunitha asked the State government to immediately forward the Bill to the President with or without voting to pave way for formation of Telangana State.
