The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is planning to start a new tour package from Vijayawada to Kurnool. The two-day package is being organised with an intent to reach the major temples in the district.

Speaking with The Hindu , AP tourism divisional manager Shyam Sundar Prasad said that Ahobilam, Mahanandi, Yaganti and Srisailam temples would be covered, along with Bellum Caves. “Due to the popularity of Bellum Caves, we included it in the package,” said Mr. Prasad.

Recently a team from the capital toured these temples. “The details would be decided very soon,” he said.

General manager of transport, AP tourism, T.V. Sudarsana Rao said a report would be given to higher authorities within the next two days, and the service should begin within 30 days. “After the proposal gets accepted, a brief period is set aside to advertise the package. Later, the tours will begin,” he added.

Currently, the tourism officials are planning to have one bus a week, starting at Vijayawada at night. The bus would reach Mahanandi in the morning, later Ahobilam, Bellum Caves and Yaganti would be covered. The next day would be completely set aside for Srisailam – the temple visit as well as adventure sports.

“There is also a plan to start a package tour from Vijayawada to Vontimitta temple in Kadapa,” he said.
