May 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - GUNTUR:

The Home Ministry has submitted proposals to the Union government seeking 2,700 acres in the Capital region to set up an integrated police facility, Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa said here on Saturday.

Mr. Chinna Rajappa, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that the integrated police facility would house the headquarters of the Director-General of Police, offices of the Inspectors-General of Police (IGPs) apart from training centres, communications network centres and housing blocks for police personnel. “We are planning to set up all police offices in the allotted land. It will be the most modern integrated police facility in the country. This will also include training and communication centres,'' he said.

The Home Minister said the district administration had already identified 2,700 acres and the Centre’s nod was awaited for the proposal.

Warm welcome

Mr. Chinarajappa, who was appointed as district in-charge Minister, was welcomed at the Inspection Bungalow premises by Ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao and Ravela Kishore Babu and MP Galla Jayadev.

Referring to the delay in development of remote areas under the Remote Area Development package, the Home Minister said that the State Government would bear the cost of implementing the development packages in the RAD.

To a question, he said the police would continue to crack down the illegal smuggling of red sanders.

Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao said tenant farmers would too be included in the Debt Redemption Scheme and said soon the exercise would commence in all 13 districts.

Loan waiver

The State government would need to spend Rs.570 crore on debt redemption to tenant farmers, he said.

Party district chief and Vinukonda MLA G.V. Anjaneyulu and other leaders called on the Home Minister.

Integrated police facility will house the headquarters of the DGP, offices of the IGPs, apart from training centres
