The entry of aircraft into the air space above the Lord Venkateswara temple for the second time in less than a week on Saturday triggered a row among pilgrims. Sensing the sentiments of devotees, the TTD management had made several representations to the Civil Aviation Ministry to declare the space above the temple as a ‘no-fly zone’. However, no decision has been taken so far on it. Airports Director (Renigunta) Mr. V.V. Rao, who confirmed that no decision had been taken on the no-fly zone, said: “Our pilots take enough care not to fly above the hill temple. We clearly instruct them to fly to the left of the hill town. But, owing to the intemperate climatic conditions, the request of the pilot to fly by the right side of the hill town was considered, and permission was granted accordingly.”
