Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday inaugurated the first Anna Canteen in Tirupati.
Interacting with the media, Mr. Naidu said that, till date, about 100 such centres have been established in the State and added the government was planning to set up a total of 300 Anna Canteens, i.e., one in every constituency and five in urban areas, depending on the population/urbanisation. “The facility will be set up in a hygienic atmosphere and nutritious food will be served in a respectful manner. No where in the country, has witnessed such a facility well equipped with all the basic amenities and there will be no compromise in quality,” he added.
Mr. Naidu also said that the response to Anna Canteens has been heartening and future action will be taken based on regular feedback from people, augmented by appropriated measures. “Several workers have been finding it difficult to have proper food with their wages. Through Anna Canteens, we will like to address those issues (faced by the common man) and people can have nutritious food for just ₹5,” he said.
