Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has criticised the Congress Governments at the Centre and in the State for blaming each other over the issue of intelligence alerts received about the impending terrorist attack.
Speaking to presspersons after visiting the site of the blasts and calling on the injured in hospitals, he said the government should be more responsible and fix a responsibility on those spreading misinformation about the intelligence alerts and take necessary action. He regretted that instead of focussing on what needed to be done in the short and long term, those in power at the Centre and in the State were simply indulging in a blame game.
Jobs for dependents
No State can tolerate terrorism and every effort should be taken to identify ‘terror cells’ and neutralise them, he said. Those responsible for the blasts should be brought to book, he added.
Mr. Naidu demanded that a total ex gratia of Rs. 15 lakh (Rs. 10 lakh from the State and Rs. 5 lakh from the Central Government) should be sanctioned to the families of the deceased, while the injured should be given the best treatment in corporate hospitals. He also wanted government jobs to be given to one dependent in each of the families that had lost their bread-winners.
The Telugu Desam president took a day’s break from his ongoing ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra on Friday. After visiting the site of the blasts in the morning, the TDP president also went around various hospitals where the injured were being treated. He interacted with them and their family members and assured them of all support. He also spoke to the doctors.
