Former Speaker and PCC vice-president Nadendla Manohar joined the Jana Sena Party (JSP) in the presence of its president Pawan Kalyan, in Vijayawada on Friday. Mr. Pawan Kalyan presented him a garland and welcomed him into the party fold.
“With the joining of Mr. Manohar, the party’s philosophy and policies can be taken to the people further. Mr. Manohar is like my elder brother and his experience will be of immense help to the party,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said. Stating that Mr. Manohar was a sincere leader, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he had corrected my mistakes in the last four years. Many discussions had taken place between us, including the one on the no-confidence motion against the Modi government, he added.
Though there was a proposal to make him a member of the Joint Fact-Finding Committee, it did not materialise. I requested him to join the JSP, but did not pressurise him, the JSP president said. Mr. Manohar said his ideas and that of Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s were same.
“From today, I am a JSP soldier,” he said. Mr. Manohar is likely to contest from Tenali in the elections.
