The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) sanctioned nearly ₹466 crore from its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for the development and widening of 42 rural roads, providing assured drinking water supply to more than 700 tribal habitations and implementing 19 Lift Irrigation (LI) schemes in Andhra Pradesh, according to a press release by assistant general manager D. All-weather roads
While approximately ₹110 crore has been sanctioned for upgrading 42 rural roads to all-weather BT roads in nine districts, ₹230 crore was given towards loan assistance for 582 water supply projects in 12 districts.
A sum of ₹125 crore has been sanctioned for LI schemes in 11 districts. The road projects are expected to benefit 204 villages leading to an improved connectivity of 167 km.
Irrigation facility
The drinking water projects are designed to provide minimum 70 litres per capita per day in the tribal hamlets and the LI projects are envisaged to provide additional irrigation facility for 8100 hectares.
With the above sanctions, the total support under RIDF to the government of A.P. during the current financial year has gone up to roughly ₹946 crore.
