April 28, 2018 11:25 pm | Updated 11:25 pm IST - Tirumala

A minor fire broke out at the boondi making kitchen outside the temple of Lord Venkateswara on Saturday evening. This was second such incident in a month sending shivers down the spine of the management.

Briefing the media, TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju, who rushed to the spot, said the mishap took place when a worker was streaming ghee into a giant oven. The ghee spilled over and caught fire. However, the exhaust fans were switched off immediately, averting a major incident. The JEO exhorted the potu workers to play a proactive role in taking precautions in the kitchen and its surroundings in order to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
