“There is scarcity of sand in the State because of rains and floods. Sand scarcity is apparently giving a lot of ‘happiness’ to former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan,” said Ministers P. Anil Kumar Yadav and K. Kanna Babu.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, the Ministers said the three leaders were happy because it gave them a chance to sling mud at Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Visakhapatnam ‘long march’ was part of the programme, they pointed out.

They said Mr. Pawan Kalyan was ‘politicising sand’ without finding out the facts. The Left Parties that contested in the recent elections along with Jana Sena have indicated that they would not be participating in the march, said the Ministers.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan never made even a small statement on the irregularities that took place in sand supply during the tenure of Mr. Naidu, but today he was making a hue and cry, the Ministers pointed out. Mr. Pawan Kalyan was least bothered about the same building construction workers who agitated to highlight the alleged misuse of their welfare fund, they recalled. Mr. Pawan Kalyan was politicising things still under the ‘direction’ of Mr. Naidu. Jana Sena Party leader was talking as if he was following the ideological footsteps of the TDP. The old sand policy was changed by Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to check the sand mafia that became so powerful during the TDP rule. The State government would definitely extend support to the kin of construction workers who committed suicide, the Ministers asserted.
