Minister for Mining Venkata Sujay Krishna Rangarao was encouraging unauthorised mining of manganese, said Leader of the Opposition and president of the YSR Congress Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Bobbili town in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday.

Addressing a well-attended public meeting as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Mr Jagan said some persons were being allowed to continue the mining even after the lapse of their licences.

Bobbili had a very respected place in the history of the Telugu people. Local hero Tandra Paparayudu refused to succumb to the threats and temptations remaining loyal to his people. The Bobbili MLA who defected from the YSR Congress to the TDP had failed to exhibit any sense of honour for which the historic place was famous, he said.

On the occasion of Dasara festival he could not help comparing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with the Mahisasura, a ‘rakshasa’ who used deception and illusion to defeat and subjugate people and kings, Mr. Jagan said. Mr. Naidu too used various tools to deceive people to believe that he was doing good and that they would benefit from his rule, he said. He spoke about the several counts on which Mr. Naidu had failed the people.
