Minister bats for latest technology for APSRTC

Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao called upon the employees and the staff of the APSRTC to actively join the efforts to introduce new technologies for improving the efficiency to take the organisation closer to the people in the coming days.

He said that the ease of travel should be enhanced wherein the passengers should be able to know the exact timings of bus services on a real-time basis. Technology upgradation would be useful in such initiatives, he added.

Addressing a review meeting with the officials of RTC and roads & buildings here at the Nellore district collectorate on Sunday, Mr. Raghava Rao said that the priority of the RTC should always be the safety of the travelling public for which all steps were being taken with active support from the staff.

On the issue of the government support for running the RTC efficiently, Mr. Rao said that nearly Rs. 250 crore funds were allotted for the organisation and this was a high amount considering by the funding pattern in the past. Encouraged by the good response from the passengers, the RTC was also going to get nearly 800 buses by the end of March this year, he added.

Mr. Raghava Rao stressed on the need for installing directions sign boards at all the curves and bends and accident-prone areas on the roads all over the State. This should be easily recognised by the drivers so that the accidents could be prevented.

Mr. Rao said that the breathing analysers should be used to test all the drivers at the time of their reporting for duty keeping in view the preventive steps required to reduce accidents rate.

The Minister asked the R&B officials to prepare proposals for taking up the repair works on the roads.
