A person was murdered in broad daylight by unidentified persons at a parking lot near the railway station here on Saturday. According to the Tirupati East Police, the deceased has been identified as P. Mohan (35), a resident of local Yadava Colony, running taxi services to Tirumala and other tourist places in the temple city.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Mohan, who reportedly had several cases against him (rowdy sheeter), used to allegedly harass and beat up the drivers/cleaners at the taxi stand near the railway station.

Unable to bear the harassment, a group of drivers allegedly called Mohan to the parking lot to settle the issues and told him to shift his two taxis to a different location. This led to a quarrel between them and someone in the group stabbed Mohan and fled the spot.

Mohan died while being shifted to a hospital.

The police have registered a case and are investigating.
