Man poisons daughters, ends life

May 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - CHITTOOR:

A father poisoned his two daughters and himself swallowed the contents, resulting in death of the trio at Puttur in the district.

According to Puttur police, Ramesh (35), of Eesalapuram village at outskirts of Puttur town, was married to Eeswaramma (30) a decade ago, and the couple has two daughters Vijaya (9) and Smrithi (7). Doing odd jobs once in a while, the unemployed father was highly debt-ridden and kept jumping payments to various groups running chits business.

In this backdrop, Ramesh was seen leaving the village on Saturday evening. His wife thought he was taking them to Puttur town to buy them some eatables. The villagers detected the bodies of father and daughters at nearby fields on Sunday morning. The neighborhood took the bodies to the village and were about to perform cremation, when the Puttur police rushed to the spot on information of the tragedy, and sent the bodies for autopsy at area hospital.
