October 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

An ex-convict Potnuru Babu Rao committed suicide by slitting his throat with a blade, after attacking his sister-in-law (younger brother’s wife) at Musidipalli village in S. Kota mandal on Sunday.

According to police, Babu Rao left home a fortnight ago after his sister-in-law Krupa spurned his sexual overtures and complained about his behaviour to her husband Lakshmana Rao. She had also lodged a complaint with the local police. Babu Rao returned home this morning and attacked Krupa indiscriminately with a sugarcane cutter.

Slits throat

On hearing her cries, the neighbours came to her rescue and shifted her to the King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam, in a critical condition.

In the meantime, Babu Rao went into an adjacent room and committed suicide by slitting his throat.

The police said Babu Rao, was a habitual sexual offender and had reportedly harassed his older sister-in-law too in the past.

Unable to tolerate his amorous behaviour, his wife had committed suicide some time ago. After his release from jail four years ago, Babu Rao did odd jobs in Vizianagaram town for a living.
