Machilipatnam identified as model railway station

South Central Railway Divisional Manager (Vijayawada) Ashok Kumar on Friday said that Machilipatnam railway station had been identified as the model station and it would see upgrade of infrastructure soon.

Launching the second phase of the Sardar Patel United Clean India Drive that focuses on cleanliness of railway stations, Mr. Ashok Kumar said that new platform would be constructed at Machilipatnam railway station soon, apart from doubling of the railway track between Machilipatnam and Chilakalapudi.

“Necessary funds are available to improve the infrastructure. A rest room for women will also be built on the railway station premises here,” said Mr. Ashok Kumar. Meanwhile, Members of the Krishna District Passengers’ Association led by their president Kuralla Rama Chandra Rao met the senior railway officials and appealed for increase in the number of train services to Machilipatnam.

The senior railway officials also inspected Gudiwada railway station during their one-day visit.
