Lord rides ‘Gajavahanam’

Lord Prasanna Chennakesavaswamy was taken on a flower-bedecked ‘Gajavahanam’ as part of the annual Brahmotsavam at the Chennakesavapet here on Monday.

A large number of devotees from far and near took part in the temple festival.

Earlier, Transport Minister Sidda Ragava Rao and his wife Lakshmi Padmavathi took part in the Garuda Seva.

‘Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam’ was held on the occasion to kindle interest among members of GenX on Carnatic music compositions of great vaggeyakaras including Purandaradasa, Annamacharya, Bhadrachala Ramdas, Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Syama Sastri.

Prakasam district Writers Association secretary Ponnuri Venkata Srinivasulu and Annamacharya Sangeetha Sahitya Samskritika Seva Samiti president I. Muralikrishna explained in detail the rich musical heritage and exhorted the youth to carry forward the great cultural tradition taking interest in Carnatic music.
