Two youngsters died on the spot when lightning struck them when they were playing volleyball in Karakavalasa village of Vizianagaram mandal on Sunday evening. They were identified as Velagada Siva and K. Prem Kumar. Another youngster was seriously injured in the incident and was admitted to government hospital.
According to locals, all youngsters gathered to play volleyball with the sudden drop in mercury at around 4 p.m.. In spite of the light drizzle, they continued to play. The sudden death of youngsters shocked their family members and villagers. Local police personnel shifted bodies to government hospital for autopsy.
